ImmuneDiscover Sweden was registered in January 2020 by Gunilla Karlsson Hedestam and Martin Corcoran, both active at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology at Karolinska Institutet. The company offers licenses and services based on proprietary technology developed for the analysis of the genes of the adaptive immune system.
Adaptive immune receptor genes: a knowledge gap
During B and T cell development, hundreds of genes recombine in a combinatorial manner to form highly diverse repertoires of B cell receptors (BCRs) and T cell receptors (TCRs) critical to human health. The genomic loci encoding these genes are highly complex and different between persons. Segmental deletions and duplications are common and there is a high degree of allelic variation between individuals. BCRs and TCRs interact closely with other genetically diverse molecules of the immune system, such as HLA and Fc receptors. The ability to genotype large numbers of individuals for variations in all these immune receptor genes will facilitate the development of targeted therapeutic and prophylactic interventions for a range of medical conditions.
